Curriculum: This section will give you a brief summary of what was covered in class last week. Language Arts - We went back to long e with ea. In grammar we continued adjectives. the stories are getting more difficult. Feel free to have your child take their reading book home to practice. Math - Students are adding two digit numbers to one digit and multiples of 10. They have learned different strategies for this and can choose which strategy suits them best. The newest strategy is called a Tape Diagram. Writing - We have moved on to opinion writing with 5 sentences. There should be a topic, an opinion sentence and 4 reasons for that opinion. Science/Social Studies - March means back to Mystery Science and our Scholastic News magazines. Computers- Programs for first grade: Raz-kids.com - My class password is lock1. (Then choose "apple" icon.) Starfall.com - Free site Abcya.com - Free site used in the computer lab for free time. eSpark - Supplement to Reading and Math curriculum (School ID # and 8 digit birthday) getepic.com - A free book site. News and Events: NO SCHOOL Friday, March 13th. End of Trimester. Spelling Test Thursday! Tuesday March 17th St. Patrick's Day. Wear green to school. We'll be doing some fun things. Send in $1 to buy beads. Proceeds go to PBIS prizes. March Events: March 13th is end of trimester 2. NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS. March 17th wear green for St. Paddy's Day! March 24th - Kindergarten/First Grade Concert at Seitz at 7pm. We are using Reading a-z.com (same as Fountas & Pinnell in first grade) this year. Look for those letters. |
